What is muscle pain?

Muscle pain also called Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) and refers to pain and inflammation that occurs in the soft tissues of the human body. Muscle pain can be chronic and primarily affects the connective tissue that covers the muscles, called the fascia. MPS generally occurs after an injury to the muscle and may involve either a single muscle or a muscle group. There are cases however, of spontaneous muscle pain with little to no known cause. In other instances, muscle pain can be located well away from the site of strain or injury. This is called referred pain.

What are the symptoms of muscle pain?
